Wheat Sowing Commenced in Madhya Pradesh
For this Rabi
season, Madhya Pradesh has targeted 61 lakh ha under Wheat cultivation which
was estimated about 57.48 lakh ha during last season. About 195.44 lakh MT wheat production is
targeted during 2015-16 which was estimated about 178 lakh MT during
2014-15. Earlier, farmers in the state
were advised for late sowing due to higher temperature forecast during this
season. Now, when temperature has
dropped little bit, farmers of the state have begun wheat sowing. It is
noteworthy that Sharbati variety of wheat grown in Madhya Pradesh has high
demand in the market. Presently, average day temperature in the state are
ranging around 30oC while minimum temperature is around 15oC.
In this report, we have collected ground information of Wheat sowing status in
some districts of Madhya Pradesh.
In Shivpuri, wheat sowing has commenced
about 10 days ago. Mostly, farmers grow HD2009, KWR-108, Lok-1 and Sharbati
Sonara varieties. Temperature in the district are ranging around 25oC
and it is expected to remain same till mid-December. At the same time, minimum
temperature is around 14oC which could drop down upto 9oC
sometime in coming days. The meteogram suggests no significant rainfall during
this week.
In Indore, wheat sowing has started from
first week of November. Mostly, farmers are preferring varieties like HI-1500,
HI 1077, AKW1071 and Sharbati Sonara. The maximum temperature in the district
is persisting around 30oC and it is expected to drop few degrees
during fourth week of this month. Minimum temperature is ranging around
16oC. As per meteogram, no rainfall is
expected in the district during next seven days.
In Guna, farmers have started sowing of
wheat recently. Varieties like Lok-1, HI1077, Sharbati etc. are popular among
farmers. Currently, temperature are
around 30oC which is expected to come down upto 24oC from
mid-December while minimum temperature is ranging around 15oC.
