Rajasthan to Have Less Groundnut Production This Year
Groundnut harvesting has started in
Rajasthan. The state is one of the major growers of Groundnut in India. For
this Kharif Season, 4.13 lakh ha area under Groundnut cultivation and about
7.82 lakh MT production with average 1894 kg/ha productivity has been estimated
by state government. This is a notable decline
as compared to last year’s estimate. Low production has been reported by
farmers also.

ground information on status of Groundnut in major growing districts of
Rajasthan.
In Bikaner, farmers are
harvesting their Groundnut crop. Production is expected to be same as it was
last year. Its arrivals in the mandis is
about 6000 to 7000 qntls/day and presently it is fetching Rs. 4000-4200/qntl.
There has been no rainfall in the district from last 15 days. WeatherSys
predicts no rainfall during next seven days and weather is likely to be hot and
dry.
In Jodhpur, harvesting of
Groundnut is likely to start in the end of October. Presently, the crop is in
good condition. Farmers are planning to
sow Cumin, Mustard and Wheat in Rabi Season. The meteogram generated by using

likely to be hot and dry.
In Sikar,
harvesting has started in the district. About 750 to 800 kg/ha productivity is
being observed which is lower than last year’s average productivity of 1121
kg/ha. Its arrival in local mandis is low
and prices are ranging from Rs. 4000 to 4500 per qntl. As per meteogram, no
rainfall is expected in the district during next seven days and weather is
likely to be hot and dry with clear sky.

In Tonk, farmers are
harvesting their crop. Low production is expected in the district. Mandi prices
for the harvest are ranging from Rs. 4000 to 4500/qntl. Farmers are now
planning to sow Mustard in Rabi Season for which they should wait till last
week of October when temperature will start coming down. Presently, no rainfall
is expected in the district during next seven days.
