Sesame (Till) in Rajasthan: Fairly Good Crop Expected
WeatherSys has gathered ground information of Sesame (Till) crop and associated weather status in Rajasthan. Sowing of Kharif Sesame in Rajasthan started in the beginning of June and lasted till July end and harvesting period is mid-October-November. The total area under the crop in the state was about 3.61 lakh ha during 2013-14 and total production was about 0.72 lakh tonnes with the yield of 199 kg/ha. At national level, during 2012-13, about 3 lakh tonnes Sesame seed were exported which was about 33 percent of total oilseed export with the total value of Rs. 2881.54 crore. In Jodhpur , Sesame sowing started in the month of May. Good rainfall distribution this monsoon has been beneficial to the crop growth and farmers are expecting good production.
