Chickpea Crop Status in Karnataka

In this report, we have collated the analysis carried out by our ‘metGIS’ and prevailing weather conditions in several districts of Karnataka.

In Bagalkot, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 1965 when sown during 46th week of the year. The growth index indicates that the crop has attained 50 percent flowering. The relative humidity during the growth period has been between 39 to 89 percent. Currently, maximum temperature is hovering around 33oC and minimum temperature is settling at around 20oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected in the district and weather is likely to remain warm and dry.

In Bijapur, considering the sowing during 46th week of the year, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 1965 which indicates completion of 50 percent flowering of the crop.  The relative humidity has been between 39 and 89 percent during the growth period. Currently, the day temperature is around 35oC and night temperature is around 21oC. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall in the district during next seven days.

In Dharwad, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 2013 when sowing was started during 46th week of the year. According to growth index, the crop has completed 50 percent flowering and beginning of pod formation stage. During the growth period, the RH has been between 50 and 74 percent. The maximum temperature in the district is ranging around 34oC and minimum temperature is around 21oC.  As per the meteogram, no rainfall is expected in the district during next seven days and weather is likely to remain hot and dry with clear sky.

In Raichur, considering the sowing during 46th week of the year, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 2112 which indicates completion of 50 percent flowering of the crop.  The relative humidity has been between 40 and 80 percent during the growth period. Currently, the day temperature is around 35oC and night temperature is around 20oC. No rainfall is likely in the district during next seven days as per the WeatherSys prediction.

In Gadag, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 2013 when sowing was started during 46th week of the year. According to growth index, the crop is at pod formation stage. The RH during the growth period has been between 50 and 74 percent. The maximum temperature in the district is ranging around 33oC and minimum temperature is around 21oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected in the district.
