Moong is dominant pulse crop in Rajasthan. In 2014, this crop was sown in about 878 thousand ha area. This year Moong has been sown in about 1026 thousand ha which is about 98.7 percent of targeted 1040 thousand ha for this Kharif season. Fortunately, Rajasthan has witnessed good monsoon rainfall this season. About 87 percent excess rainfall has been registered in West Rajasthan. We, at WeatherSys, have gathered ground information of the status of this crop from three districts namely Barmer, Nagaur and Jodhpur in west Rajasthan. In Barmer , a good spell of monsoon rainfall was received during 22 nd July to 29 th July 2015 and moderate rain was experienced on 14 th August. During this Kharif Season, total area covered under Groundnut in Gujarat is about 12.96 lakh ha with the increase of about 71 thousand ha previous Kharif Season ( DOA, Gujarat, 07 th Sept. 2015 ). The crop is in seed formation stage. Deficient rainfall in some districts prolonged upto 5 crop-weeks. During these crucial weeks for plant growth, resource-poor farmers could not apply appropriate irrigation which would resulted into lower yield. However, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in the state during next few days. We at WeatherSys monitor Groundnut crop growth on day to day basis vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast. We also gather ground information on the status of the crop and associated weather in major growing districts. In this report we have collected the ground information from several districts in Gujarat. In Amreli , total area under the Groundnut crop during this season is about 1.02 lakh ha. The district has witnesse...

Despite being a drought-tolerant crop, long dry spells during this Monsoon season, has delayed the Arhar crop growth in Marathwada region. We at WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast on day to day basis. We also gather ground information on the status of the crop and associated weather in major growing districts. In this report, we have collected ground information of Arhar crop status in several districts of Maharashtra. In Amravati , total acreage of Arhar is about 0.10 million ha in this season. Sowing of the crop had started in mid-June. Deficient rainfall during germination and vegetative growth stages has delayed the plant development as flowering in many places in the district ha...
