Chickpea Status in Uttar Pradesh

Recent dip in the temperature during January is likely to help the Crop growth of Chickpea. In this report we have collated the ground information and the analysis carried out by ‘metGIS’ and current weather in several districts of Uttar Pradesh. 
In Fatehpur, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 1830 when sown during 42nd week of the year. The growth index indicates flowering stage of the crop. However, as per the field information, flowering is expected within 20 days where sowing was delayed. At least one irrigation has been given to the crop.  No major incidence of pest or disease has been reported as of now.  Currently, maximum temperature is hovering around 24oC and minimum temperature is settling at around 9oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected in the district.
In Jhansi, considering the sowing during 43rd week of the year, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 1747 which indicates flowering stage of the crop.  As per the ground information, the crop is in good state and at flowering stage. Farmers are using their own irrigation sources. Currently, the day temperature is around 24oC and night temperature is around 8oC. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall in the district during next seven days.

In Kanpur, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 1840 when sowing was started during 42nd week of the year. According to growth index, the crop is at flowering stage.  As per the farmers, flowering has started in the crop and no incidence of pest or disease has been reported as of now. The maximum temperature in the district is ranging around 23oC and minimum temperature is around 8oC. There was light rainfall on 19th January. No rainfall is expected in the district during next seven days and weather is likely to remain cool and dry.
In Lalitpur, considering the sowing during 43rd week of the year, the cumulative growth index of chickpea is 1851 which indicates flowering stage of the crop.  Farmers of the district also confirm the flowering in the crop which was completed by November. No major incidence of pest or disease has been reported till date.  Presently, the max temperature is around 25oC and min temperature is hovering around 8oC.  During next seven days, no rainfall is expected in the district.
