Wheat Prospects in Punjab

Wheat crop in Punjab is good state as of now except some incidences of Yellow Rust.  In this report, we have collated the ground information, current weather and analysis carried out by our metGIS® software for several districts of Punjab.

In Patiala, considering the sowing during 45th week of the year, the growth index of Wheat is 1153 which indicates good crop growth. As per the farmers, the crop is in vegetative stage. The relative humidity has been between 51 to 75 percent during the growth period of the crop. Currently, the max temperature is ranging around 27oC and min temperature is around 8oC.  There has been no significant rainfall from last one month. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days.

In Ludhiana, the growth index of Wheat is 1328 when sown during 45th week of the year. It indicates good crop growth. According to farmers, the crop is in vegetative stage and has been irrigated two times. During the growth period, relative humidity has been between 45 to 71 percent. Presently, the day temperature is hovering around 15oC and night temperature is around 8oC. The district has not witnessed any significant rainfall from last one month. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected.

In Ferozpur, considering the sowing during 45th week of the year, the growth index of Wheat is 1265 which depicts good crop growth. As per the farmers, the crop is in vegetative stage and has been irrigated at least once after sowing. The RH has been between 52 to 74 percent during the growth period. Currently, the maximum temperature is ranging around 15oC and minimum temperature is around 5oC. There has been no rainfall in the district from last one month.  No rainfall is expected during next seven days.

In Gurdaspur, Wheat growth index is 1315 when sown during 45th week of the year. As per the growth index, the crop growth is good. According to farmers, the crop is in vegetative growth stage and has been irrigated two time after sowing. The RH has been between 51 to 75 percent during the growth period. Presently, the day temperature is settling around 18oC and night temperature is hovering around 4oC.  The district has not received any significant rainfall from last one month. As per the meteogram, no rainfall is expected during next seven days and weather is likely to be cool and dry.

In Bhatinda, the growth index of Wheat is 860 when sowing was started from 48th week of the year and according to it the crop growth is good. As per the field information, the crop is in flowering stage. During the growth period, the relative humidity has been between 52 to 72 percent. The current maximum temperature in the district is around 16oC and minimum temperature is hovering around 4oC. The district has not received from last one month. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected in the district and weather is likely to remain cool.
