Guava Arrivals Declined This December
Guava is the
fourth most important fruit crop. During 2013-14, its total production was
about 36.68 lakh MT from both tropical and subtropical areas of 2.68 lakh ha. The
main Guava producing states in India are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and
Madhya Pradesh. In this report, a comparative analysis of arrivals and modal
price of Guava during is done.
During December
2015, total Guava arrival was recorded 2870 MT which was 3992 MT during November
2015. Mumbai (MH), Jalandhar City (PB), Narwal Jammu (J&K), Jodhpur
Bhadwasia (RJ) and Ahmedabad Naroda (GJ) have been top 5 mandis in respect of
arrivals and contributed about 1364 MT in total arrivals of during Dec’15. In
these top 5 mandis, Jodhpur Mandi in Rajasthan recorded lowest modal price of
Rs 500/qntl while Narwal Jammu in J&K witnessed highest price of Rs 2400/qntl.
During December 2014, total arrival was
recorded 6967 MT and Alwar (RJ), Jalandhar City (PB), Ludhiana (PB), Ajmer (RJ)
and Faridabad (HR) have been top 5 mandis in respect of arrivals. These top 5
mandis contributed about 3327 MT in total arrivals during Dec’14. In these top
5 mandis, Alwar (FV) Mandi in Rajasthan recorded lowest modal price of Rs.
1400/qntl whereas Ludhiana mandi in Punjab witnessed highest price of Rs 2150/qntl.
From the above, it is observed that the
total arrival of Guava in December 2015 was only 41 percent of total arrival
during December 2014. However, the modal prices varied mandi to mandi.
