Status Update : Wheat in UP

Uttar Pradesh contributes a large share in total production of wheat in India.  During this Rabi season, it has been reported that the wheat sowing in the State has dipped sharply and the total production is likely to be affected by it. However, the Growth Index calculated by metGIS indicates good crop growth mainly in irrigated areas. In this report, we have collated information on Wheat growth in several districts of Uttar Pradesh. 
In Aligarh, the growth index of 1136 indicates good crop growth considering sowing during 46th week of the year. As per the field level information, the crop is mostly a month old and at least one irrigation has been given to the crop. During the growth period the relative humidity has been between 56 and 77 percent. The current max temperature is around 24oC and min temperature is around 10oC. There has been no significant rainfall since last two months. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days. 
In Bulandshahar, considering sowing period during 45th the growth index for wheat is 1025 indicates good crop growth. As per the field information, the plants height are approx. 9 inches. The RH during growth period has been between 50 and 74 percent. The day temperature is around 24oC and night temperature is around 10oC. The district has not witnessed any significant rainfall from last 25 days.  During next seven days, no rainfall is expected and weather is likely to remain cool and dry. 
In Kanpur, the growth index of wheat 1038 depicts good crop growth when sown during 46th week of the year.  Farmers have irrigated the crop at least two times. The RH during this growth period has been between 57 and 76 percent. The current max temperature in the district is around 24oC and min temperature is around 10oC. There has been no significant rainfall from last 25 days and during next seven days, no rainfall is expected. 
In Etah, the growth index of wheat is 1136 when sown during 46th week which illustrates good crop growth. However, as per the ground information, the sowing is expected to last till Mid-January. The RH during the growth period has been between 56 and 75 percent. Currently, the day temperature is ranging around 24oC and night temperature is around 11oC. As per the meteogram, no rainfall is expected during next seven days.
