Status of Wheat in Haryana

Wheat sowing had been delayed this year because of high day time temperatures till end of October 2015. However, ideal weather conditions now prevail in most parts of Haryana and a good crop of wheat is expected.

In Karnal, farmers have commenced wheat sowing from November-beginning. Mostly, farmers are sowing HD-2967, PBW-17 etc. varieties of wheat. About 1.72 lakh ha area is targeted under wheat in the district. There has been no rainfall from last 15 days. Presently, temperature is ranging around 25oC and minimum temperature is around 12oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected and weather is likely to remain cool and dry on a clear sky.

In Bhiwani, wheat sowing has started from first week of November. Most popular varieties are PBW-502, DBW-17, WH-711, Super-231 etc.  About 1.68 lakh ha area is targeted under wheat cultivation in the district. Presently, the day temperature is around 26oC and night temperature is around 13oC. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall in the district during next seven days.

In Kurukshetra, wheat sowing has commenced from first week of November. Farmers are preferring varieties like HD-2967, WH-1105. About 1.14 lakh ha area is targeted under wheat cultivation in the district. As there has been no significant rainfall from last 15 days, farmers are irrigating wheat fields by using their own irrigation sources. The maximum temperature is ranging around 24oC and minimum temperature is around 10oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected.

In Hisar, wheat sowing has started a month ago. Mostly, farmers are sowing DBW-17, WH-711 varieties of wheat. About 2.30 lakh ha area is targeted under wheat cultivation in the district. Presently, the day temperature is ranging around 25oC and night temperature is around 10oC. There has been no rainfall from last 15 days. As per meteogram, no rainfall is expected in the district during next seven days.

In Sonipat, wheat sowing has started from the second week of November. Super-231 variety of wheat is among most popular varieties. About 1.45 lakh ha area is targeted under wheat cultivation in the district. Farmers are using their own water resources for irrigation. Currently, the day temperature is around 25oC and night temperature is around 12oC. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days.
