Status of Mustard in Madhya Pradesh

Mustard is major oilseed crop of Rabi season and MP is one of the major mustard producing states. The conducive weather prevailing for Mustard sowing from the beginning of this month in the state. For this Rabi season, the Govt. of India has announced Rs 3350/Qntl MSP for Mustard. Despite deficient rainfall, the ‘Growth Index’ calculated by metGIS for Mustard indicates good crop growth in many parts of the state which is mainly attributed to irrigation facility available. We at WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast on day to day basis and arrive at a ‘growth index’ district wise. In this report, we have collated information on Mustard growth in several districts of Madhya Pradesh. 
In Morena, considering the commencement of sowing in 40th week, the growth index is 1753 which indicates flowering stage of the crop.  The ground information also confirms the same state of the crop which was sown early. From the sowing week till date, the RH range has been between 55 to 77 percent. Currently, the day temperature is around 24oC and night temperature is around 8oC. There has been no rainfall from last 15 days and during next seven days no rainfall is expected. 
In Bhind, the growth index of 1707 depicts the flowering stage of Mustard. The ground information received also confirms the same stage of the crop.  The relative humidity has been between 56 and 77 percent. The maximum temperature is around 25oC and minimum temperature is around 10oC. The district has not received any significant rainfall from last 25 days. The weather is expected to remain cool and dry on a clear sky. 
In Gwalior, as per the ground information the crop is of two months now and is in flowering stage. The growth index of 1707 also indicates the flowering stage of the crop. The RH level has ranged from 56 to 77 percent during this growth period.  The day temperature is around 26oC and night temperature is around 7oC. There has been no rainfall from last 25 days and no rainfall is expected during next seven days.
In Shivpuri, the growth index of 1769 illustrates good crop growth and flowering stage of the crop.  The field level information collected by us also confirms the stage of the crop. The relative humidity has been between 60 and 79 percent. Currently, the max temperature is around 26oC and min temperature is around 7oC. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days.
