Status of Cauliflower Arrivals and Modal Price during November-December

The cultivation time of Cauliflower varies in different regions but Oct to Mar is the peak season of this important vegetable crop. During 2013-14, the production of Cauliflower in India was 85.73 lakh mt from 4.34 lakh ha with an average yield of 19.8 mt/ha. Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Assam, Haryana and Maharashtra are major Cauliflower producing states.

The total arrivals of Cauliflower from 1st December to 18th December, 2015 is nearly 45 thousand mt. During 2014, total arrivals was 50 thousand mt. Gosala (OR), Solan (MP), Ahmedabad (GJ) and Azadpur (DL) and Mumbai (MH) have been top 5 mandis and contributed 18.8 thousand mt in total arrival during this month.  In these top 5 mandis, Solan Mandi recorded lowest modal price of Rs 450/qntl while Ahmedabad Mandi witnessed highest price of Rs 1050/qntl.

During November 2015, total arrival was recorded 45746 mt and Azadpur (DL), Ahmedabad (GJ), Barnala (PB), Gosala (OR) and Narwal Jammu (J&K) have been top 5 mandis in respect of Cauliflower arrivals. These top 5 mandis contributed about 13 thousand in total arrivals during Nov’15. In these top 5 mandis, Azadpur Mandi recorded lowest modal price of Rs 538/qntl while Narwal Jammu Mandi witnessed highest price of Rs 1200/qntl.

During November 2014, total arrival of Cauliflower was 53757 mt and Solarpur (MH), Mumbai (MH), Ahmedabad (GJ), Azadpur (DL) and Keshopur (DL) were top 5 mandis in respect of arrivals. The cumulative arrivals in these top 5 mandis was 20.8 thousand mt.  Among these top 5 mandis, Azadpur Mandi recorded lowest modal price of Rs 768/qntl for this period whereas highest price of Rs 1300/qntl recorded in Ahmedabad Mandi.
From the above analysis, it can be seen that there is no major fluctuation in arrivals. And, the prices varied from mandi to mandi. Recently, Mr. Rakesh Singh, a progressive farmers in Asansol region of West Bengal informed that the Cauliflower arrival has declined in nearby mandis recently which has significantly increased the price of their produce and presently fetching Rs 8/kg.

During this Kharif Season, total area covered under Groundnut in Gujarat is about 12.96 lakh ha with the increase of about 71 thousand ha previous Kharif Season ( DOA, Gujarat, 07 th Sept. 2015 ). Status of Arhar Crop in Maharashtra
