Good Crop Growth but Low Acreage in Gujarat

During this Rabi season, the total wheat acreage in Gujarat is nearly 8 lakh ha till 28th December which is about 65% of Normal wheat area of the state. Last year about 11 lakh ha area was under wheat cultivation (DOA, Govt of Gujarat). Wheat area is mainly irrigated in the state. Good crop growth is observed according to Growth Index of metGIS. In this report, we have collated information on wheat growth in several districts of Gujarat. 
In Ahmedabad, wheat growth index is 1524 when planted during 44th week of the year and it indicates good crop growth. About 1 lakh ha area has been sown till 28th December. As per the field information, the crop is of 3-4 inches of height and flowering yet to start. The RH during the growth period has been between 65 and 80 percent. Presently, day temperature in the district is around 35oC and night temperature is around 14oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected. 
In Kheda, the growth Index of wheat is 1638 when sown during 44th week of the year which illustrates good crop growth. Wheat has been sown in about 53 thousand ha area till 28th Dec. As per the ground information, the crop is in vegetative stage and flowering is likely to begin after a month. The relative humidity during the growth period has been between 62 and 79 percent. The max temperature is around 34oC and min temperature is around 16oC. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days. 
In Sabarkantha, wheat growth index of 1511 depicts good crop growth when sown during 44th week of the year.  Wheat has been sown in about 73 thousand ha area till 28th. The relative humidity has been between 70 and 80 percent during the growth period.  Currently, the day temperature is ranging around 30oC and night temperature is around 14oC. As per meteogram, no rainfall is expected during next seven days and weather is likely to remain warm and dry with clear sky.
In Rajkot, the growth index of wheat is 1569 considering 44th week of the year as sowing period.   As per the field information, flowering is expected within 15 days. The RH during the growth period has been between 69 and 80 percent. Presently, the maximum temperature is around 36oC and minimum temperature is around 17oC. During next seven days, no rainfall is expected in the district.
