Wheat Sowing Commenced in Haryana

For this Rabi Season, Haryana Government has targeted 2.52 million ha area under wheat cultivation. Haryana has witnessed one of the highest yields in wheat during last 2-3 years. Unseasonal rain and hailstorm last year had upset the production.  In many parts of the state, temperature are ranging between 28oC to 32oC and it is expected to come down few degrees during mid-November. Farmers have already commenced the sowing of wheat. We at WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast on day to day basis. We also gather ground information on the status of the crop and associated weather in major growing districts.  In this report, we have collected ground information of Wheat sowing status in several districts of Haryana. 

In Bhiwani, farmers have started sowing wheat from October-end.  Popular varieties of wheat are HD2960, WH896 etc. among the farmers. Currently, temperatures are around 30oC and soil moisture is on lower side.  There has been no rainfall from last 10 days. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days. 

In Sirsa, sowing of wheat has started from second week of October.  Mostly, farmers are preferring varieties like WH1105, 3967, 3028 etc. There has been no rainfall from last 10 days and currently day temperatures are around 30oC. As per meteogram, no rainfall is expected during next seven days and weather is likely to be dry. 

In Hisar, wheat sowing has started from last week of October. Farmers are growing varieties like WH1105, WH-711, 593, WH543, 2167 etc.  Temperatures in the district are ranging around 30oC.  There has been no rainfall from last 10 days and no rainfall is expected during next seven days. 

In Karnal, sowing of wheat has started from November-beginning. Most preferred varieties are HD2967 and HD3086. Temperatures, in the district are around 30oC. As per the meteogram, there has been no rainfall from last 10 days and weather is expected to be dry during next seven days also.

In Kaithal, wheat sowing has started from last week of October. Mostly, farmers are choosing varieties like HD2960 and HD3086. Presently, temperatures in the district are around 29oC. There was light rainfall recently which helped the temperature to cool down significantly.  As per meteogram, no rainfall is expected during next seven days.
