Mustard Sowing Delayed in Gujarat due to High Temperature
As per the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India, during
2014-15 season, about 1.93 lakh ha area was under Rapeseed-Mustard cultivation
in Gujarat which was about 31% less than 2013-14 season. Currently, climatic
conditions for sowing of Mustard in Gujarat are not suitable as day
temperatures are prevailing 35oC to 38oC and required
soil moisture is lacking. We at WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the
actual weather and weather forecast on day to day basis. We also gather ground
information on the status of the crop and associated weather in major growing
districts. In this report, we have
collected ground information of Mustard sowing status in several districts of
Gujarat.
