Low Guar Production Expected in Rajasthan
The Govt. of Rajasthan has estimated
about 19.44 lakh MT production of Guar Seed from about 39.29 lakh ha with the
average yield of 495 kg/ha. This is far less than 2014-15 estimated production
of about 27.44 lakh MT from 46.25 lakh ha with the yield of 593 kg/ha. This is
due to prolonged dry spell and pest and diseases induced by it.
We at WeatherSys
monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast on day to
day basis. We also gather ground information on the status of the crop and
associated weather in major growing districts.
In this report, we have collected ground information of Guar crop status
in several districts of Rajasthan.
In Ganganagar,
crop loss has been reported in many places due to deficient rainfall and
whiteflies infestation. In 2014-15
kharif season, total production in district was estimated 6.22 lakh MT. As this season yield at State level has been
estimated to be low by 100 kg/ha than last year’s yield, the district would also
witness sharp decline in production. There has been no rainfall from last 10
days. Weather is likely to be hot and dry during next seven days.

data and ideal weather requirements of the crop.
In Jodhpur, deficient rainfall and pest
infestation has affected the crop badly. Even the yield loss has been reported
in the field of the farmers who have applied adequate irrigation and
insecticides. Some farmers are claiming that this kind of situation has
occurred after more than a decade. There
has been no rainfall from last 10 days. The meteogram predicts no rainfall
during next week and weather is likely to be hot and dry.
In Barmer,
pest and weather has spoilt the Guar crop at many places. Due to these events,
the district is expected to witness low production. During previous season, about 3.42 lakh ha area
was sown with Guar from which about 0.67 lakh MT production was estimated with the
yield of 198 kg/ha. Further decline in production is expected during this
season. As per meteogram, weather is likely to be hot and dry during next seven
days.
In Sikar, harvesting of Guar
is expected to begin from mid-October. Low production is expected by farmers
due to less rainfall during critical growth stages. There has been no rainfall
from last 10 days. The meteogram
suggests hot and dry weather during next week.
In Jaipur, deficient rainfall has affected the crop adversely which
could result in low production. Previous
year average yield in the district was 1026 kg/ha. Farmers are expecting the yield of 600 to 700
kg/ha. Weather during next seven days is likely to be hot and dry with clear
sky.
In Jhunjhunu, harvesting of
Guar has started. The district is likely to witness low production due to
deficient rainfall. For 2014-15, the
yield of 921 kg/ha in the district was estimated. During this season, further
fall in the yield is expected. The meteogram generated by metGIS_Agro®
forecasts hot and dry weather during next seven days.

days and forecast for next 7 days including soil temperature and ET. Rainfall
for last 120 days is also available if clicked with specific crop.
In Bikaner, Guar harvesting has started in irrigated areas. The
production in these areas is expected to be comparatively good. But, in rainfed areas the crop is not in good
health due to a long dry spell and pest infestation. Production in these
rainfed areas may fall from 350 kg/ha to 700 kg/ha. Altogether the production
in the district is expected to be same as it was last season. WeatherSys
predicts hot and dry weather during next week.
