Increased Soybean Production Estimated in Rajasthan
In kharif 2015 season,
as per SOPA, area under Soybean cultivation in Rajasthan is 10.24 lakh ha and
production is estimated 9.29 lakh MT with 907 kg/ha yield. According to SOPA,
estimated production is showing an increase of about 40 percent from previous
year’s production of 6.64 lakh MT. Whereas Govt. of Rajasthan have estimated about
15.40 lakh MT Soybean production from total acreage of about 11.04 lakh ha with
1394 kg/ha yield. Rajasthan has received good cumulative
rainfall this year. However, deficient rainfall during pod and seed formation
stages of the crop could result in lower yield in some places.
We at WeatherSys
monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast on day to
day basis. In this report, we have collected ground information of Soybean crop
status in major growing districts of Rajasthan.
In Baran, 2.35 lakh ha area is under Soybean cultivation this year and
about 2.37 lakh MT production with 1009 kg/ha yield is estimated by SOPA. Tahsil-wise distribution of productivity
analyzed by WeatherSys can be seen in figure 1. Presently farmers are
harvesting their crop and they are expecting lower productivity due to less
rainfall during critical crop growth periods. Even resourceful farmers are
expecting yield of 750 to 800 kg/ha. There has been no rainfall from last one
month. WeatherSys predicts no rainfall during next seven days.
In Kota, Soybean acreage is 1.24 lakh ha
and about 1 lakh MT production with 830 kg/ha average yield is estimated by
SOPA. Tahsil-wise distribution of productivity analyzed by WeatherSys is
illustrated in figure 2. Varieties like JS-335, JS-9305, JS9650, 1025, 1050
etc. were sown in the districts. Harvesting is being done in the district and
farmers are expecting low production with the yield of 400 to 800 kg/ha. This
would be mainly due to less rainfall during the crop-week 34-37(17 Aug to 7
Sept). There has been no rainfall from
last one month. During next seven days,
weather is likely to be hot and dry which is suitable for harvesting.
In Chittorgarh, about 0.72 lakh ha area is
under Soybean cultivation from which 0.82 lakh MT production with 1133 kg/ha
average yield is expected by SOPA. Tahsil-wise
distribution of productivity analyzed by WeatherSys is depicted in figure 3. It
is noteworthy that estimated 1133 kg/ha average yield in the district is one of
the highest in the state. However, low production is expected by farmers. The
meteogram generated through metGIS_Agro® suggested no rainfall during next week
and weather is likely to be hot and dry.
Meteogram
produced by metGIS_Agro® showing actual weather data for last 10
days and forecast for next 7 days including soil temperature and ET. Rainfall
for last 120 days is also available if clicked with specific crop.
In Jhalawar, Soybean acreage is about 3.02 lakh ha and about 2.49 lakh
MT production with 825 kg/ha is estimated by SOPA. WeatherSys has analyzed
Tahsil-wise distribution of productivity (figure 4). Presently farmers are
harvesting their crop and some of them are expecting 900 to 1100 kg/ha yield. There has been no rainfall from last 20 days.
WeatherSys forecast no rainfall during next seven days and weather is likely to
be hot and dry.
