We at WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the
actual weather and weather forecast on day to day basis. We also gather ground
information on the status of the crop and associated weather in major growing
districts. In this report, we have

In Jamnagar,
Cotton has been sown in 193 thousand ha. Pod formation has started in the crop.
Some farmers who had access to quality inputs and water availability for
irrigation have good crop. A number of farmers are, however, struggling to save
their crop from pest and diseases and rainfall deficiency. WeatherSys predicts hot and dry weather
during next seven days.

data and ideal weather requirements of the crop.
In Junagarh,
Cotton acreage is about 81.8 thousand ha. Presently, crop is in pod formation
stage and infested with Whiteflies. Farmers are applying pesticides but it is
not proving effective. Meanwhile,
harvesting is likely to commence from next month and farmers are expecting low
production as compared to last year due to deficit rainfall during critical
growth periods of crop and pest infestation. Weather is likely to be hot and
dry during next seven days.
In Vaodara,
total acreage of Cotton is 90.7 thousand ha.
The crop is in pod formation stage and its harvesting is expected to
start from next month. Due to deficit rainfall, farmers are expecting low
production this year. Hot and dry weather is likely over the district during
next week.
In Rajkot, Cotton acreage
is about 255.4 thousand ha. Pod formation has started in the crop and no pest
and disease have been reported. There was light rainfall on 21st
September which was beneficial for the crop. Presently weather is hot and humid
and same is expected during next seven days.

days and forecast for next 7 days including soil temperature and ET. Rainfall
for last 120 days is also available if clicked with specific crop.
In Amreli, cotton has been sown in 380.7 thousand ha. Pod formation
has started in the crop. At some places, the crop is stressed by deficient
rainfall and infested with whiteflies. Low production is expected due to these
obstacles. As per meteogram generated by using metGIS_Agro®, during
next seven days hot and dry weather is likely over the district.
Overall Cotton
production in India during 2015-16 season is likely to be lower than the
previous season 2014-15. According to Govt. sources area of production this
season was estimated at 27.61 lakh ha as compared to 30.09 lakh ha last year.
Main drop in production is because of deficient rainfall.
