Harvesting of Soybean Crop Started in Madhya Pradesh
According to SOPA, total sowing area in Madhya Pradesh is
59.04 lakh ha in this Kharif season where crop in about 7.7 lakh ha area is
very poor and more than 10 lakh ha is stressed. Presently, the crop is at
maturity stage. In some places, harvesting has started and arrivals of new
produce has also begun. Lower yield is expected at many places due to weed and
pest infestation and deficient moisture at several areas of the state.
We at
WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather
forecast on day to day basis. We also gather ground information on the status
of the crop and associated weather in major growing districts. In this report, we have collected ground
information of Soybean crop status in several districts of Madhya Pradesh.
In Shivpuri, the crop is at seed filling
stage and its harvesting is expected to commence during October-beginning.
Deficient rainfall in crop-week 36-37 has affected the seed filling of the pod.
Some farmers are using their own irrigation resources. Symptoms of water
scarcity in plants such as pale leaves have been observed in the fields of
farmer who depends only on rains and this will result in low yield. As per the

during next seven days in the district.

In Rajgarh
district, seed formation has started in Soybean crop. However, some varieties
such as JS335 are at pod formation stage.
In many places of the districts, no significant rainfall has been
received from last 20 days. A good spell
of rain is required for growth of late varieties. Some farmers have planted
Banana on the field boundaries which is attracting caterpillars in the soybean
crop. Farmers are applying insecticides such as Triazophos to control insects.
As per meteogram, weather is likely to be warm & dry during next seven
days.
In Ujjain, soybean harvesting
has started in many places in the district. However, in some places crop is
still at flowering and pod formation stages. Small soybean seeds has been
reported by the farmers during this season which will lower the total
production. No rainfall is likely over the district during next seven days.
In Neemuch, soybean harvesting has
commenced. Farmers are expecting higher production as compared to last year
because of good rainfall in the district.
There was light rainfall on 22nd September. WeatherSys
predicts warm and dry weather with clear sky during next seven days.
In Shajapur, harvesting of the crop has
started. Farmers are expecting low yield
of about 2.5 qntl/acre. Presently, new produce is fetching Rs. 2800 to Rs.
3150/qntl in mandis. There was moderate rainfall on 19th September.

In Seoni,
soybean harvesting has commenced. Poor production is expected due to small seed
size. There was moderate rainfall during last week. As per meteogram, warm and
dry weather is expected during next seven days.

In Indore, Soybean harvesting
has started. According to farmers, the
production is likely to be same as last year. There was moderate rainfall
