Harvesting of Soybean Crop Started in Madhya Pradesh

According to SOPA, total sowing area in Madhya Pradesh is 59.04 lakh ha in this Kharif season where crop in about 7.7 lakh ha area is very poor and more than 10 lakh ha is stressed. Presently, the crop is at maturity stage. In some places, harvesting has started and arrivals of new produce has also begun. Lower yield is expected at many places due to weed and pest infestation and deficient moisture at several areas of the state.

We at WeatherSys monitor crop growth vis-à-vis the actual weather and weather forecast on day to day basis. We also gather ground information on the status of the crop and associated weather in major growing districts.  In this report, we have collected ground information of Soybean crop status in several districts of Madhya Pradesh.

In Shivpuri, the crop is at seed filling stage and its harvesting is expected to commence during October-beginning. Deficient rainfall in crop-week 36-37 has affected the seed filling of the pod. Some farmers are using their own irrigation resources. Symptoms of water scarcity in plants such as pale leaves have been observed in the fields of farmer who depends only on rains and this will result in low yield. As per the meteogram generated through metGIS_Agro®, no rainfall is likely during next seven days in the district.
