Crop-Weather Report for Basmati Rice

progress of Basmati Rice vis-à-vis all parameters of weather from date of
sowing and transplantation to date. During the next week, the day Temp will be
around 35-36oC and dry NW’ly winds with speed around 15 kmph will
prevail. With bright sunshine and no rainfall expected in next 7 days,

The crop in nearly all the district
are in stage of maturity. In Kurukshetra and Sonipat, harvesting is likely to
commence in September-end/October-beginning.
In Patiala, there has been no rainfall from last 15 days. Fungal
disease Blast caused by fungus Magnaporthe oryzae has been noticed in
the Basmati Rice crop and it is affecting entire plant except the root. Tilla
insect is affecting roots of the plant.
Farmers are using Metominostrobin 500ml/ha or Aptara which is proving effective
to control the disease. By need-based
application of pesticides, the crop is expected to be better.

In Amritsar, no rainfall has been received
from last 15 days. Pattalbeth insect effect has been reduced by using
appropriate pesticides in Basmati Rice crop. Weather is likely to be mainly hot
and dry with clear sky during next seven days in the district.
In Sonipat, there has been no rainfall
from last 10 days and farmers have used their own irrigation sources wherever
required. The Basmati Rice crop is now free from insect Pattalbeth which
attacked the crop during flowering stage.
Pusa 1509 variety crop is almost ready for harvest and its harvesting
would commence from September-end. However, Pusa 1121 would take a month for
ready for harvest and its harvesting is likely to begin during mid-October. In
the district, hot and dry weather will prevail with clear sky in next seven
days.
In Kurukshetra, there has been
no rainfall from last 10 days. The
Basmati Rice crop is in maturity stage and harvesting in the district would
commence from October. Heavy rainfall in the month of July washed away some
leaf borer insects which attacked the crop during flowering stage. Presently no insect or disease has been
reported.

In Karnal, there has been no rainfall from last 15 days. The Basmati Rice crop is in grain formation
stage. Farmers are expecting normal
production this year also. Presently,
the crop is infected with Blast disease and Foondi insect in root system.
Farmers are spraying pesticides to control this menace. As per farmers, a good
rainfall will be helpful in controlling pest and disease management. However, no rainfall is expected and weather
is likely to be hot and dry during next seven days.
