IN MONSOON DEFICIENT MARATHWADA REGION OF MAHARASHTRA NO SIGNIFICANT RAIN EXPECTED IN NEXT 7 DAYS



The Marathwada region of Maharashtra has received about 50 percent less rainfall as compared to normal rainfall till date. This deficient rainfall has adversely affected kharif crops especially in respect of resource-poor farmers.  WeatherSys has gathered ground information of Cotton crop from several districts of this region.

In Aurangabad, there have been light rainfalls on regular intervals yet insufficient for a good crop growth.  However, the flowering in cotton has started from 1st August.  As per meteogram, no significant rainfall is likely during next 7 days.


In Parbhani, moderate rainfall was experienced on 5th and 11th August which was beneficial for the Cotton crop. The flowering has started from the 1st week of August in the district.  As per meteogram forecast, light rainfall is expected on next 2 days and no significant rains in subsequent five days. 

In Hingoli, there has been continuous light rainfall from last 10 days which is insufficient for the Cotton crop. A spell of moderate to heavy rainfall is required for good crop growth. The crop is about 75 days old and flowering in the crop has started recently. According to meteogram generated through metGIS, the district is likely to experience moderate rainfall in next 2 days and no significant rainfall in subsequent five days.

In Osmanabad, the flowering in Cotton crop has not started yet due to water deficiency. Although, there was a moderate rainfall in last two days, the district remains rain-deficit and its adverse effect are being experienced in the form of crop damage. No significant rainfall is likely over the district during next 7 days.
